BOURNEMOUTH Area Hospitality Association Chairman, Des Simmons hosted the inaugural meeting of the area’s first Self Catering Forum at the Encore Ramada Hotel in Bournemouth at the close of last year.
Des, who is also the Managing Director of self catering accommodation provider, Bournecoast said, “We have been managing self catering holiday accommodation for over 50 years. I am Chairman of the Bournemouth Area Hospitality Association (BAHA) and represent the accommodation sector on the Bournemouth Tourism Management (BTMB). We are pleased to see that the self catering market is growing in the local areas and believe that if we play it right we can all promote Bournemouth and the local area collectively. We now need to get the message out there and show that we can really compete with other strong self catering destinations”
The idea is to set up a regular forum (possibly bi-monthly or quarterly) for self catering accommodation providers to discuss the overall marketing of the region as a self catering destination with joint promotion, distribution of surplus enquiries and general tourism issues.
Other representatives of local self catering providers in attendance at the meeting were: Sagdat Bolatovich and Karl Lyons from Bournemouth Beaches, Catherine Ferguson from Dimensions Holiday Lets, Helen Rivera & David Fowler from Harbour Front Holiday Homes, Barrie & Janet Lonnen from Langlea House Self Catering, Riverside Park, Paul Dredge from Rumsey Holiday Homes and Helen Challis and Louise Baker from Quay Holidays.
